Hi, I’m Jacquelyn!

My desire to become a counselor was sparked at a young age. I was fortunate to receive support and direction from therapists, mentors and teachers who helped me cope with various challenges. While in graduate school at Boston College, I had a counseling internship at a methadone clinic during the height of the opioid epidemic. I found the work profoundly meaningful and loved it so much that I stayed on for another 10 years after my internship ended. I met with 30 individual clients/week, facilitated weekly groups, and eventually supervised interns. My life came full circle when Boston College approached me to teach the same class that ignited my passion for addiction counseling.

While I still specialize in working with people in recovery and their families, my work has expanded to include more general concerns such as anxiety and stress management. I opened my practice in 2011 and “moonlighted” until transitioning into full-time private practice in 2019. Eight years of slowly growing a business deepened my appreciation for the challenges which professionals and entrepreneurs face. I enjoy guiding those with demanding careers and leadership roles towards integrating work-life balance and managing extreme tendencies. It’s rewarding to help people find healthier outlets for their intensity, and better balance. I value mindfulness and recognizing the relationship between physical and mental health. And since stress and substance use often co-exist, my clinical background has proved quite useful.

My ancestry is half-Italian and half-Irish, so if we’re meeting for the first time in the winter, I look nothing like that woman above! When not in my therapist chair, I’m usually reading by a body of water, on an aerial/cirque apparatus, trying a new restaurant, studying the cosmos, or watching the latest standup comedy special.
